Vinous Neal Martin - 10 Nov 22
The 2006 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru is earthy and stemmy on the nose, as if those stems have never been subsumed by the fruit. Compared to other vintages, the aromatics here come across as a little pinched. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly chalky texture and pleasing salinity, though it lacks depth and feels attenuated towards the finish. So-so considering the vineyard and producer. Tasted blind at the Roumier Les Cras vertical at Medlar, London.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
